More Grave Than We Suspected

La Marzocco still on bed rest and out-of-commission. Explorative surgery Saturday afternoon revealed that more serious measures would have to be taken.
Until then, the black brewed coffee flows like oil here.

Swinging Shel Silverstein Cake

We try and try to avoid it, but poetry just keeps showing up in, around and on our pastries and cakes. You're looking at the cake inspired by Shel Silverstein's "The Acrobats."
May we be the bakery that launches a thousand of your own poetic notions.

Get Well Soon, Espresso Machine

Espresso machine had its very first nervous breakdown Saturday morning. Under the pressure of an order for six lattes, (single shots, requesting skim milk!) it threw in the towel. From time to time, everyone needs a break. La Marzocco should be back and better than ever by tomorrow.

BOYS!

Our bakery is full of cute ones.
(Cute, and they know their way around the kitchen.)

Don't Be a Pansy!

Magnolia blossoms, magnolia icing. We've got it all.
Pussy willow? Right here on Summit Street.
You can learn a lot of things from the flowers.
Don't be fooled, these pansies survived the last snow of the season back in March.
Pansy mantra, "Keep calm and carry on."

Not to be outdone by nature's bounty, Mary was seen on this day, in DeLuxe's kitchen, creating dainty white chocolate daisies. They'll soon be sprouting up on your cupcakes!

Hold Thy Horses

French pastry is coming!
(Pains au chocolat, croissants, brioche braids.)
Just give us a week.
In a world of instant gratification, isn't it comforting to know there's still something great to wait for?

A Look at Our Sensual Side: Croissants (Yes, Really!)

Like everything worth anything, croissants have the humblest of beginnings.
We're officially Francophiles.
Little package o' butter.
Butter meets dough (scandalous).
Dough gives butter a hug.
Jamie makes it happen.
Jamie and Sky (they go way back). Sky is a croissant master from way out west.
